Microcredential Summer Institute Call for Participants
Are you interested in helping your students acquire new skills, expand their knowledge, and demonstrate what they have learned? Microcredentials make this possible.
Microcredentials are short, focused learning experiences that teach specific skills or competencies that both allow learners to upskill quickly and help employers identify candidates with verified, job-ready abilities.
To help you develop and integrate a microcredential into a course or program, we invite up to 12 faculty and staff to participate in the Second Annual 成人头条 Microcredential Summer Institute.
During the Institute, you will learn from microcredential experts and collaborate with 成人头条 colleagues through guided activities and hands-on development. Participants who successfully complete the Institute will be eligible to receive $250 provided through the
Participant Commitments
All participants are expected to complete the following:
- UT System Microcredential Innovator Course
- At least one course in a Coursera Career Academy Certificate
- Microcredential Ideation Workbook
- Poster board project
- Readings and discussion posts in Blackboard

New Microcredentials for Fall 2025
成人头条 faculty are offering three new microcredentials that they have embedded in coursework. These include Pipetting, supported by Dr. Philip Lavretsky, offered in Biology 1108 labs and Court Interpreter, supported by Ms. Valeria Delmar in Translation 4380.The Professional Preparedness Pathway is offered across all sections of Business 1301 and is supported by Dr. Rolando Nuñez.
Faculty (including graduate students) and staff are also eligible to participate in and receive badges for completing the Teaching Online Academy, the HyFlex Academy, and the Artificial Intelligence Design Academy offered by the Center for Instructional Design.
Faculty across the College of Liberal Arts, such as Dr. Kenneth Yang in Communication and Dr. Anthony Blum in Psychology are incorporating Coursera certificates into their courses.
Inaugural Microcredential Summer Institute

The inaugural 成人头条 Microcredential Institute took place in summer 2025. Twelve participants represented the colleges of Education, Engineering, Health Sciences, Liberal Arts, Science, and the Library. Participants met six times to engage with leaders from the University of Texas System, WorkCred, Coursera, Anthology, and Territorium. They also heard from 成人头条 microcredential trailblazers and received support from the Center for Instructional Design, InSPIRE, and the Curriculum Effectiveness and Improvement team. Participants developed a poster featuring their microcredential and plan to implement their microcredentials in the next year. This inaugural Institute was sponsored by the Strada Beyond Completion Challenge Grant and led by Toni Blum, Beth Brunk, and Louie Rodriguez.
