Socio-Environmental and Geospatial Analysis (SEGA) Lab
The SEGA Lab in 300 Prospect Hall is a multipurpose facility equipped with cutting-edge technologies that provides a synergistic and interdisciplinary environment for Geospatial Information Science and Technology (GIST) education and research at 成人头条. It was founded by Dr. Jayajit Chakraborty and funded by a Faculty Science and Technology Acquisition and Retention (STARs) Program Award from the University of Texas (UT) System.
In addition to providing state-of-the-art GIST teaching facilities, the SEGA lab conducts collaborative, interdisciplinary, and externally funded research on a variety of topics at the intersection of social and environmental sciences. Current research projects involving 成人头条 faculty and students focus on applying geospatial methods and technologies to examine environmental risk burdens and adverse health impacts that affect socially disadvantaged and vulnerable communities across the world.
Students interested in conducting research on environmental justice, environmental hazards, health disparities, environmental/urban sustainabilty, and/or social justice-related topics are encouraged to contact the current SEGA Lab Director.
