External Funding

This page provides resources for graduate students who seek funding outside of the university to supplement their educational, research, and professional development efforts.

The 成人头条 School offers resources designed to support graduate students in identifying external funding sources and developing competitive applications.  Before you apply for external funding, let us know by emailing gradfund@utep.edu.  This page provides resources available to search for funding, upcoming workshops, and some award announcements. 

To search for external funding sources, access the Pivot Funding Database or other publicly available databases listed on this page.

Once you’ve secured external funding, report your award so we can celebrate your accomplishment!

The following are some opportunities we are aware of. Searching other resources to find funding opportunities is advised. 

  • The HSRU Consortium for DOD Research and STEM 成人头条 Pathways is a nationally coordinated initiative led by the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Research Universities (HSRU) in partnership with the Department of Defense (DOD).  The ASCENDR Fellowship is year-long, funded experience for graduate students aligned with core defense research areas. Fellows will receive a $12,500 award over 12 months to support their academic and professional development. Interested applicants must apply using the HSRU InfoReady system beginning on December 1, 2025, and the application deadline is February 20, 2026. For more information on fellowship eligibility and application requirements, please visit this .  

  • The American Psychological Association (APA) Dissertation Research Award: The purpose of the APA Science Directorate's Dissertation Research Award program is to assist science-oriented doctoral students of psychology with research costs. Deadline: March 1, 2026 For more information click . .

  • The Laura Bassi Scholarship was established in 2018 with the aim of providing editorial assistance to postgraduates and junior academics whose research focuses on neglected topics of study, broadly construed, within their disciplines.The scholarships are open to every discipline and the next round of funding is now open. All currently enrolled master’s and doctoral candidates are eligible to apply.  Applicants are required to submit a completed application form along with their CV through the application portal by March 20, 2026. Further details, including previous winners, and the application portal can be found .

  • The  IELTS USA Andrea Scott International 成人头条 Scholarship  is a $5000 tuition scholarship that is awarded to an international graduate student enrolling in an accredited US college or university. The scholarship is open for new students who are admitted for a Fall 2026 start term, and it can be renewed for up to three years if you maintain a good academic standing.   • The Office of Student Fellowships and Awards and the 成人头条 School assists graduate students with the National Science Foundation (NSF) 成人头条 Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) and Fulbright application processes.

Cientifico Latino, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization and offers a fellowship database for STEM-related pursuits.
Pathways to Science maintains a page specifically for prospective and current STEM graduate students to search for fellowships, funding opportunities and to access other resources. 
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) maintains a page called GRAPES which includes several hundred scholarships, grants, fellowships, and postdoctoral awards. 
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign maintains a robust and user friendly database that is easily curated based on your positionality.
