Directions for retrieving a pass to access Fort Bliss and USANCOA.
There are a few initial steps required to be allowed onto Fort Bliss to attend classes at USANCOA. Below is the recommended process to receive a permit that will grant you access to pass through the Fort Bliss Pena Gate.
Step one: First, you must apply for a visitor's pass at the Chaffee Gate Visitors Center. This requires a valid driver’s license. They will ask you to fill out some paperwork and, at times, even to take a picture. Your reason for visiting can be listed as attending class at USASMA/NCOLCoE. Depending on the staff and line of others getting a pass, this can take anywhere between 10-25 min. You will receive a paper (permit) upon completion of the process; this pass is good for one month.
Step two: Next, you will leave the visitors' center and head to Pena Gate. You will be able to continue on the road that will get you to the academy. To enter, you will need to show your license/ID and the permit received from the Chaffee Visitors Center. Pena Gate does not have an address, but as you drive down Sergeant Major BLVD, you will reach it soon after you exit the highway.
Step three: As you enter through Pena Gate, you will proceed straight on the same road until you reach the academy, which will be on your left side. MLS classes will be on the opposite side of the building from Sergeant Major BLVD. You may park in the parking lot, and there will be stairs leading up to two sets of double doors. This is the main entrance. (On the first day of classes, there will be someone waiting to show you to your classroom.)
