Undergraduate Graduation
Graduation verification process
Academic Advisors review records for all seniors at the start of every term to determine who is eligible for graduation. Once your advisor determines you are eligible, the Graduation Coordinator will review your degree evaluation and begin the verification process. You will receive an email from lagrad@utep.edu before the first graduation deadline to attend a graduation workshop. The graduation workshop will cover important information about the degree conferral process, the associated fees, and how to RSVP for Commencement.
Once the first graduation deadline has passed, you should expect to see a $35 fee posted on your account (in the same place where you pay tuition). If there are issues with your record that are not addressed in a timely manner, your name may be submitted to Records after the first deadline which will incur a late-add charge.
Deadlines for the submission of eligible graduate names are posted on the Academic Calendar every academic year. You can find the calendar on the Registration and Records Office website.

Graduation Confirmation process
After final grades are submitted, the Coordinator will begin the Confirmation process which includes a final audit of your records to ensure you have met the requirements for your degree. The Registration and Records Office will receive confirmation of graduates from the Coordinator in approximately six weeks. Diplomas are ordered once the Registration and Records office has posted all degrees. After diplomas are received, they will be mailed to the address you have listed in Goldmine.
If you have any outstanding financial debts with the university, you will need to clear them before a diploma or transcript can be released. To check on your balance, please contact the Student Business Services Office at (915) 747-5166 or (915) 747-5105.
For further information about the degree conferral process, diplomas, or commencement ceremonies, please contact the Registration and Records Office, located in the Mike Loya Academic Services Building. The office telephone is (915) 747-5544, or email: graduation@utep.edu
